From Thursday, June 30th until Sunday, July 3rd of 2016, I and my family attended Dex Con 19 at the Morristown Hyatt in Morristown, NJ. For those of you who are familiar, Dex Con is one of the biggest Gaming conventions in the USA. We play Board games, Miniatures games and Role playing games until the wee hours of the morning. Hundreds of games are played in roughly 90 hours time by thousands of Gamers. Let’s get started.
My plan for this con was to play as many different games as possible, and not give in to the temptation to play everything I loved. That’s very difficult for some,. I took the challenge, and I did pretty well with only 2 exceptions. I just cannot go too long without playing Robo Rally, and I play it every year at Dexcon.

Let’s take a look at the newest designs I found, many of which are just on Kickstarter or gearing up for their campaigns. I would recommend backing all of the following games without exception.
I started off by zeroing in on Rampaging Jotunn, a 2 player game that has just hit 95% funding. I was not surprised that this is an excellent game. My review of Rampaging Jotunn can be found on this blog. Here is the Kickstarter link to check the game out. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/835148483/rampaging-jotunn/description

When I say the word Sharknado, do you laugh or cower in fear? Yes, our new favorite bad movie franchise has spawned a board game called Sharknado: the Board Game. I know what you’re thinking. Whaaaaaat? Believe me, I was not expecting to find a design that worked, but you know, I loved this game. What can I say? The shark and Sharknado mechanics are sound, the characters fun and wacky and it plays very well. I’ll certainly back this when it hits Kickstarter. For now, check out their page and follow them from there. http://deviousdevices.net/index.php/sharknado-board-game/

Raggle Taggle Gypsy took me by surprise, and I found a very enjoyable new game to add to my collection soon. Designer Christopher Barley has done an excellent job of taking a familiar idea and spinning it into a very challenging design. Highly recommended. Here’s the Kickstarter link:

Among the new designs that looked very intriguing is Shadow Strike, a ninja combat game. From Pure Fun Games, 2-6 players find themselves in control of a team of ninjas. Their job is to use whatever weapons they can get their hands on to be the only team standing. It looks like it’s going to be a great game. You can look at the game on their Kickstarter page her. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/purefungames/shadow-strike-ninja-combat-game?ref=nav_search
